|
Susan Eyre is an artist driven by curiosity into the mysteries of the universe such as dark matter, magnetic fields, cosmic rays and dimensions in spacetime. Originating from ecological concerns at the human disconnect with the natural world, research led her to the creation myths of early humans and the idea of paradise as a state of bliss which has been lost. Turning to particle physics for an alternative origin story she found a cosmic, subatomic and quantum world equal to any ancient mythology in its fantastical nature. Working across installation, moving image and print processes she draws upon scientific systems of enquiry and technology to assist in revealing that which is outside the limitations of human senses to perceive. In seeking ways of visualising unseen forces, intangible cosmological phenomenon and abstract theoretical mathematics she is interested in sparking a sense of wonder in the everyday and fostering an awareness of an entangled universe.
